Ever since I secretly heard the first few seconds of Beauty Queen, I have been a fan of Tori Amos.
I was 12 and I didn’t like her in the sense of wanting to dig up every single fact about her life.
I liked her for the womanly power that radiates from all her songs.
And for her unwavering dedication to break taboos about religion, femininity and sex.
Her work was liberating long before I understood what she was singing about.
